The American University of Kuwait (AUK) hosted a professional development workshop for over 24 senior leaders from Al Rayan Holding Company’s private schools in Kuwait, titled “Adopting AI in Schools: Strategies, Ethics, and Practical Tools for Future-Ready Education.” The event focused on the role of AI in K–12 education and included principals, academic directors, and curriculum specialists.

Held at AUK’s campus, the workshop emphasized AUK’s dedication to regional educational innovation and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

The keynote address by Dr. Roman Kulchitsky, Associate Professor of International Relations & Public Policy at AUK, highlighted strategic pathways for integrating AI literacy and ethical decision-making in education, advocating a policy-informed, pedagogy-first approach.

AUK faculty led hands-on sessions on:

  • Professional development and teacher readiness

  • Curriculum alignment with AI tools

  • Ethical safeguards for students

  • Classroom applications like adaptive learning and assessment automation

The event featured a showcase by AUK’s Data Club, where students demonstrated AI projects linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting real-world applications of emerging technologies.

Institutional Partnership and Future Vision

In her closing remarks, Ms. Lana Al Ayyar, CEO and Chairperson of Al Rayan Holding Company, praised the collaboration between AUK and Al Rayan Schools, stating:

Our schools are committed to equipping learners for the future, and this partnership with AUK is a vital step in that journey. Ethical, inclusive, and strategically guided AI implementation must start with the leadership in our schools—and this workshop delivered exactly that.

The event ended with a call to action to implement insights into pilot initiatives, faculty training, and strategic planning across Al Rayan’s schools. Participants were energized to lead future-oriented change in their institutions.

AUK, by hosting this impactful workshop, reaffirms its role as a hub for educational leadership and a trusted partner for innovation in the regional learning ecosystem.
