Reinforcing the Bank’s proactive role in advancing the national financial literacy and banking awareness campaign “Let’s Be Aware”

Burgan Bank launched its Risk and Cyber Awareness Week under the theme “Awareness is Our First Defense,” supporting the “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) campaign by the Central Bank of Kuwait and Kuwait Banking Association. This initiative highlights the bank’s commitment to developing Kuwait’s workforce through continuous learning, equipping them with skills for the evolving global banking industry.

The five-day event, led by the Risk Management department, included Burgan Bank employees, senior management, and guest speakers. It focused on risk management in the digital banking sector and advanced decision-making strategies. Mr. Talal Al-Zamel, Executive Manager – Risk Management, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and awareness of new technologies, which present both opportunities and risks.
The event featured workshops on credit risk, market risk, emerging risks, operational risk, cybersecurity, business continuity, and fraud risk. Real-life examples and practical applications made the sessions engaging. Ms. Mai Al-Owaiesh, CEO of CINET, delivered a session on “Building a Data-Driven Mindset for Smarter Decision Making,” stressing data analytics in strategic decisions.
A highlight was the Internal Audit session with a “Spin the Wheel” activity, testing employees’ knowledge on risk and cybersecurity. The week concluded with a recognition ceremony for speakers. This initiative reinforces Burgan Bank’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and ESG standards, aiming to be Kuwait’s most progressive financial institution with informed and responsible employees.
