Upon the recommendation of the Committee on Research and Grants (CRG) at Dartmouth College, the Dartmouth Fellowship has been awarded to Dr. Ali Bostani, associate professor of electrical engineering at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) at the American University of Kuwait (AUK).
Dr. Bostani will collaborate with Dr. Timothy Pierson and Professor David Kotz on a research project titled Enhancing Harmonic Radar Technology for Smart-Home Security Through Reconfigurable Antennas and AI Integration. The project aims to improve smart-home security systems by enhancing detection range, classification accuracy, and adaptability through innovative antenna designs and AI technologies.
AUK president, Dr. Rawda Awwad, expressed pride in the faculty’s global standing:
“Our annual Dartmouth-AUK Fellowship highlights the strength of our faculty research initiatives. The synergy with our partner institution unleashes creativity through collaboration. We are proud of our faculty and always wish them the best.”
The fellowship program will run for 8 weeks in the summer of 2025, from June to August. Dr. Bostani remarked on the honor of receiving the fellowship and the opportunity to advance harmonic radar systems, enhancing smart-home security by improving detection accuracy, adaptability, and range.
The Dartmouth Fellowship empowers AUK recipients to conduct impactful research, fostering professional growth within the University's network. Dartmouth and AUK have maintained a partnership for over twenty years, engaging in collaborative research and initiatives, strengthening connections among students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
