The American University of Kuwait (AUK) hosted the Kuwait Collegiate Programming Contest (KCPC) 2025 on October 16 and 18, organized by AUK’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS). Launched in 2010, KCPC aims to inspire competitive programming among Kuwait’s university students. The event featured 44 teams from nine universities, solving algorithmic problems in Java, C, C++, and Python. This year, Abdullah Al Salem University participated for the first time, highlighting growing national interest. After five hours, Strike Force from Arab Open University won first place, BitByBit from AUK came second, and Watermelons from Kuwait College of Science and Technology placed third.
The atmosphere was electric, with participants praising the organization and hospitality. Dima AbuRshaid, KCPC 2025 organizer, emphasized the event’s role in fostering learning and growth. Prof. Mohammed El-Abd noted the competition’s growth since 2010 reflects AUK’s impact on Kuwait’s educational landscape. KCPC 2025 was supported by sponsors The Sultan Center and Boubyan Bank, ensuring its success. Top teams will represent Kuwait at the Arab and African Regional Contest in Luxor, Egypt, in December 2025. KCPC 2025 reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to nurturing young computing talent.
