KIPCO supports global ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge’ hackathon at AUK

‘We are committed to supporting innovation & education to build a sustainable future for Kuwait’ says Group SVP
KIPCO – Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) – announced that it will be the lead sponsor of the ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge’ on October 4–5. This is the sixth year that the American University of Kuwait (AUK) fosters innovation and collaboration by hosting this prestigious global hackathon.
Organized by AUK’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the event embodies the university's commitment to advancing education, space exploration and interdisciplinary problem-solving. The NASA Space Apps Challenge is the world’s largest annual hackathon, held simultaneously in over 200 cities worldwide. It brings together a diverse community of scientists, developers, designers, storytellers, engineers and entrepreneurs to address challenges using open-source data from NASA and its global partners.

As the designated local lead, AUK has played a pioneering role in bringing the challenge to Kuwait since 2018. The inaugural event attracted 80 multidisciplinary participants, culminating in a local team being selected as one of the top 25 global finalists out of 400 participating teams.
This year’s event will be held at the AUK campus, and more than 200 participants are expected to take part. Registration is open to the public, including high school and university students, faculty and professionals.
