URC Breaks Ground on Al Shamkhiya Project in Oman
United Real Estate Company (URC), in collaboration with the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, has laid the foundation stone for its Al Shamkhiya integrated development project on Masirah Island, Oman, marking the beginning of construction on a major tourism and real estate development.
Spanning 60,000 square meters, the project will feature hospitality, residential, and retail facilities, alongside a traditional Omani market inspired by the island’s cultural heritage. Designed to complement Masirah’s natural environment, the development aims to strengthen the island’s appeal as a tourism and investment destination while supporting local economic growth.
Mr. Meshari Al Muhaillan, Group CEO of URC, highlighted the company’s confidence in Oman’s investment potential and its commitment to developing integrated destinations that create lasting economic and social value. He noted that the project is expected to attract visitors and investors, generate new economic opportunities, and contribute to sustainable local development.
Implemented in coordination with the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and relevant government authorities, the project reflects the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing tourism and economic development.
Al Shamkhiya further strengthens URC’s presence in Oman, building on its successful development and operation of Salalah Gardens Mall and Hotel, a landmark retail and hospitality destination in Dhofar Governorate, with a built-up area exceeding 86,000 square meters.
